Navigating Self-Doubt After Completing Your LifeScape

0:00|0:00

Mary Huhn speaks directly to young adults aged 18 to 33 who have completed their LifeScape. She explores how writing your truth across all 6 domains can trigger self-doubt, reassuring listeners that self-doubt is a normal, universal experience whether tackling daily tasks or wondering about the future.

Chapter 1

The Myth of the Fixed Patient and Carl Rogers Radical Shift

Mary Huhn

Welcome. If you are sitting here today having completed your LifeScape, I want to acknowledge what a major step you have just taken. Putting your honest truth down on paper across all six domains of your life takes immense courage, especially when you are in your twenties or early thirties and navigating so much uncertainty.

Mary Huhn

I want to tell you something very important. If writing out your truth raised feelings of self doubt, that is completely normal. In fact, it is a universal human experience. Whether you are eighteen or eighty three, every single one of us experiences self doubt. Sometimes it shows up in small, routine moments, like trying to complete a daily task or tackling a work project. Other times, it strikes deep when you find yourself wondering about your future, your purpose, and where your path is taking you.

Mary Huhn

Growing up in a family with nine children, where my father struggled to hold a job and we lived in daily survival mode, I carried relentless self doubt for decades. I spent years believing I was broken and needed someone else to fix me. But through my own journey in therapy, I learned a truth that changed my life. Self doubt does not mean you are failing or incapable. It simply means you care, and that you are standing at the threshold of real growth.

Chapter 2

Accurate Empathy and the Paradox of Self Acceptance

Mary Huhn

When you look at what you wrote in those six domains, remember that you cannot transform your life while you are actively judging or rejecting who you are today. The central paradox of personal growth is that when you accept yourself exactly as you are right now, self doubt loses its power over you. Accepting your current reality is not giving up. It is the solid ground from which real change begins.

Mary Huhn

So as you look forward to your future and reflect on your LifeScape, treat yourself with kindness and self compassion. Let go of the harsh self judgment. You do not need to have every answer figured out today. Trust the truth you wrote down, honour where you are right now, and step forward into your tomorrow with confidence.
